The 2018 Winter Olympics opened February 9th in Pyeongchang, South Korea. As people all over the world tuned in to watch their favorite winter sports, the excitement soon flowed over to Pornhub where searches containing “Olympic” and “Olympics” grew by up to 561% compared to average levels.

2014 was a huge year for us here at Pornhub HQ. We put our team of statisticians to work time and time again to deliver the data and bring you the most fascinating facts having to do with the world’s #1 porn site. Focusing largely on search trends and how user interactions react to major events around the world, we’ve covered everything from the traffic changes during the recent Scottish referendum to America’s obsession with anal sex and everything in between. Be it sports, politics, climate or demographic related, we found a way to relate it to porn trends and offer up some awesome insights. Pornhub Traffic During the Olympic Opening Ceremony
The long awaited Sochi Olympics are officially underway! In this edition we will be hard at work to show which countries are more excited by the Olympic Opening ceremonies than they are by the world’s number 1 adult website (at least temporarily). As we saw in 2010 and 2012, the host countries log off of Pornhub to watch the start of their Olympic journey. This time around, Russia recorded a 15% drop while all eyes were on Sochi, compared to a 17% drop in Canada for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and a massive 27% drop in the UK for the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
