Our statisticians have pulled the data from 2024 to bring you trends, top search terms, favorite categories, and much more to outline the porn viewing habits of people around the world. We are now excited to share it with you!

Holidays & Events Affecting Traffic
The Searches that Defined 2024
One of the best parts of doing our Year in Review Insights is gathering all the data and sifting through billions of visits to see what defined the tastes of the year. Often these tastes are defined by pop culture, world events, and changing attitudes toward sexuality. What you will find here is not strictly a Pornhub thing, it is synonymous with mainstream media as well. The way people interact with external factors of their lives inevitably trickles into their porn consumption, and looking at these trends speaks to a year ripe with cultural shifts.
1. Demure Desires
Very demure, very mindful. These words resonated throughout the cultural consciousness and, of course, trickled into the porn people watched. The viral TikTok video accumulated over 50 million views, and as a result, our statisticians started seeing viewers searching for related content.
Searches for “demure” rose +133%. The term “mindful pleasure” was up +112% and “mindful JOI” (JOI is an acronym for jerk off instructions) was up +87%. Searches related to modesty also increased. The term “modesty” increased +77% and the term “modest milf” was up +45%.
Dr Laurie Betito, the clinical psychologist, author, speaker, and director of Pornhub’s Sexual Wellness Center, said of this trend, “It seems people may be pining for a simpler time – looking for things that are less complicated and maybe seeking out more meaningful experiences.”
Demureness and modesty bring a sense of simplicity and authenticity with it. Searches for the term “simple sex” grew +55%. Authenticity saw a boost too, with “authentic sex” up +43%, “real authentic” up +39%, and “authentic couple” up +28%. Searches for “ethical porn” were up +92% and “respectful sex” was up +61%.
“With the increased production of ethical and amateur porn, it seems that people want something more real! As a society, we’re moving away from the original performative nature of adult entertainment,” said Dakota Ramppen, a sexuality educator, relationship coach, and contributor at the Sexual Wellness Center. “Our need to witness comfort and chemistry while exploring the spiciest of desires is taking precedent over what we’re used to seeing.”
2. The Secret Lives of Pornhub Wives
With the release of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, a television show about a group of Mormon influencers who got caught in a sex scandal that made international headlines, our statisticians saw a spike of interest in wives. While wives are already hot on Pornhub, the show, in addition to the interest of traditional aspects like authentic couples and authentic sex, seemed to ignite a spark into a flame.
In general, the interest in “wife” and marital searches spiked, with “amateur wife” up +21%, “traditional wife” up +34% and “tradwife” up +72%. That said, in line with the show, more boundary-pushing searches grew as well, with “cuckold wife” up +8%, “wife swap” up +6%, and “wife threesome” up +12%.
Reflecting the Mormon aspect of the hit show, searches for “mormon wife” were up +71%, “mormon sex” was up +92%, “mormon missionary” was up +68%, and “mormon threesome” was up +122%.
Of this trend, Dr Laurie Betito said, “It appears that it signifies putting back excitement and trying to keep the fantasy alive, even after putting a ring on it.”
3. Coworker Crushes
With many white-collar companies developing hybrid working conditions, or returning to in-office entirely, people may have started to develop work crushes again. It’s one thing being behind a screen in meetings, but when you’re back in the office, those sparks might turn into flames. And our statisticians saw this unfolding in real time.
Searches for “coworker” rose +92%, “sex in the office” rose +31%, “workplace fantasy” rose +57%, and “workplace orgy” grew +19%.
But the crushes didn’t stop there. Searches for “fucking coworker” were up +69%, “coworker blowjob” were up +55%, “office affair” was up +25% and “cheating coworker” was up +71%.
Whatever it takes to get through a day of work, right?
4. Going for Gold
The 2024 Olympic Games took place in Paris this summer, drawing athletes and fans from all over the world to attend the games. An event of this magnitude affects traffic in a multitude of ways, from boosting country traffic (in this case France, which was 2nd highest traffic this year, more on that later), to the topics people worldwide searched for.
“Summer Olympics, anything that is front and center in our culture will be on our minds and therefore tends to be sexualized” said Dr. Laurie Betito. And you guessed it, people fused sex and sports. Searches for “sex olympics” was the highest searched, followed by “nude olympics.” In the third quarter of the year, searches for “athlete” grew +88%, “gymnastics” grew +79%, “swimmer” was up +101%, and “vollyball” was up +165%.
They say Paris is the city of love and apparently people were looking for a little love of their own. The term “Paris” was the most searched for city during the Olympics, “France” was the most searched for country, and “French” was the most sought-after language.
5. Animated Arousal
The anime craze continues for the fourth year in a row. People can’t get enough of author-created and generated content. Animated characters have become part of everyday culture, from the TV shows and movies we watch, to the anime style characters featured in illustrations and popular video games. It’s no surprise then, that people are seeking out animated and 3D content on Pornhub as well. With “hentai” as the world’s #1 search, the term “anime” also rose +4 spots to become the 7th top term of the year.
Searches for animation this year grew by +28% and searches containing “3D” were up +19%. As far as top gaining searches went, “realistic animated” was up +78%, “gay animated” was up +23%, and “rule 34 animated” was up +15%. For those who are unfamiliar, rule 34 refers to the porn version of something, such as video game characters or comic book characters who are typically unassociated with porn.
6. Et tu, Hawk Tuah?
If you weren’t living under a rock this year, you no doubt heard the phrase, “Hawk Tuah” — an instant, viral hit that took pop culture by storm. Sexually charged, pleasantly shocking, and all-around fun, the woman behind the phrase, Haliey Welch, became an overnight sensation when she answered the question, “What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?”
We don’t need to tell you what it means, as you no doubt already know, but searches for spit blew up. The viral sensation resulted in 10 million “hawk tuah” searches on Pornhub.
“Again, this fascination or interest is driven by what is popular in culture.” Said Dr. Laurie Betito. “The Hawk Tuah girl viral video showcases an ordinary girl talking about sex. I believe this is the appeal – unfiltered, candid, and spontaneous – in other words: real.”
The term “spit on dick” saw a massive increase of +233%, searches for “spitting” were up +28%, and searches for “sloppy blowjob” rose +36%.
2024’s Most Searched for Terms
For the fourth year in a row, “hentai” was the most searched for term, topping the list in 2024. All over the world people are showing increasing interest in this type of content, which can include video game characters, anime style characters, and 3D animation, to name a few. For the first time ever, “hentai” was the most searched term in the USA, taking the top spot from “lesbian,” which reigned supreme in 2023, 2022, 2019, and 2017.
Much like “hentai,” the term “milf” held its place in 2nd yet again this year. Viewers love a sexy, empowered mature woman who isn’t afraid to get what she wants, and the data proves that. The term “milf” consistently ranks in the top 3, often in competition with “lesbian” and “hentai” for the top spot.
In 3rd place this year was “pinay” which bumped “lesbian” down to 4th place. The term “pinay” rose +2 places compared to last year, earning its place in the Top 3 for the first time ever. The word Pinay is a noun for a woman of Filipino origin or decent. The popularity of the term is likely in part due to the increasing number of viewers coming from the Philippines, which accounted for the 3rd most amount of traffic to Pornhub this year.
Notable increases in popularity also include “animation” which jumped +15 spots this year. This growth aligns with the popularity of “hentai” which remained in the number 1 spot again this year. The term “wife” saw an increase of +12 spots, also aligning with the defining trend of Pornhub Wives. The term “real amateur” saw an increase of +10 places and the term “teacher” saw an increase of +11 places.
2024’s Most Popular Performers
The top 5 most searched for pornstars this year remained similar to last. Angela White climbed +1 spot to take the lead for most searched pornstar of 2024. Abella Danger was the 2nd most searched pornstar. Violet Myers got some love this year, jumping +2 spots to make her the 3rd most searched pornstar of 2024. Lana Rhoades held the same place as 2023, in 4th. Eva Elfie was the 5th most searched pornstar of the year. And Alex Adams jumped up +7 spots this year, putting him in 6th. He is also the one with the most video views in the top 6, with a staggering all-time 3,965,097,138 views.
Dakota Ramppen, a contributor at the Sexual Wellness Center, said on the topic of Angela White, “Angela White’s versatility is part of the reason why she’s a fan favorite. Her ability to step into any role, any position and meet her fellow performers with enthusiasm and presence, makes for a superb viewing experience.”
Several newcomers made the most searched pornstar list this year, including Jessica Sodi, a popular Mexican pornstar. Other newcomers include Mariana Martix, a popular Colombian pornstar, and Alina Angel, a popular Arabic American pornstar.
Other pornstars saw bigger surges in interest, including Sara Blonde who jumped +19 spots in 2024, Lexi Lore, up +12 spots, and Skyler Vox, Savannah Bond, Sara Jay, and Kendra Lust, all up +8 spots this year.
Amateur Models
This year, Sweetie Fox was the most viewed Amateur Model, up +1 place from 2023. Candy Love landed the 2nd most viewed Amateur. Following that, a few male Amateur Models got some additional love this year, with the next 3 all being men. NoLube came in 3rd, Scott Stark landed 4th, Gattouz0 got 5th and Porn Force came in a solid 6th.
The State of the Union
Plenty of movement in the top search terms of 2024 within the United States this year. “lesbian” was knocked down –5 spots in 2024, dethroning the popular term for the first time since 2022. The term “hentai” ruled the chart this year, jumping +2 spots to make it the most searched term in the US, following the popularity of the Animated Arousal trend. Following not far behind “hentai” was “latina,” which also jumped +2 spots this year, knocking last year’s 2nd place spot “milf” down to 3rd place in 2024.
2024 saw plenty of shifting interests besides the top 5 trending terms in the US, which tend to stay quite similar year after year. This year, “animation” got a massive boost of +17, landing it as the 15th most searched term in the US. Last year, the term didn’t appear on the list, once again reinforcing the Animated Arousal trend. The term “furry” also saw a big jump, +15 spots, putting it on the top most searched terms list this year as well. Other terms that saw noticable increases were “joi” at +8 spots, “wife” at +8, “trans” at +6, and “cheating” at +5.
Things start to get really juicy when our statisticians break the top relative searches down by state. Similar to last year, there were states that seemed most interested in themselves, such as Nevada searching for “vegas” or Arizona searching for “navajo.” This also applies to New York searching “turkish,” which has the second largest number of Turkish residents in the US, and New Jersey searching “iranian,” where there is a large Iranian population.
California is still interested in moms again this year, showing a particular interest in “friends mom” (last year it was “asian step mom”), whereas Wisconsin has switched it up completely from “swingers” in 2023 to “pee” in 2024. Oregon has swapped out their interest in “nudist” last year to the costumed “furry” in 2024.
Missouri couldn’t get enough “grandma” and Washington was thirsting for “milking.” Over in New Hampshire they were feverish for “enema” videos.
Our statisticians also found searches related to the trends this year. Iowa’s interest in “work trip” aligns with the Coworker Crushes trend. The trends of Demure Desires and Pornhub Wives matches with Maryland’s interest in “girlfriend” and New Mexico’s interest in “housewife.” In Minnesota, “futa hentai” enforces the Animated Arousal trend.
Top 20 Countries by Traffic
It comes as no surprise that the top country is yet again the United States. With a country of over 300 million people, it accounts for a large portion of traffic to Pornhub.
In second place was France, followed extremely closely by the Philippines in third. Last year, France was in 3rd and the Philippines was in 2nd. With the Olympics in Paris this year, our statisticians theorize the tiny margin between the two countries could have been tipped in the direction of France due to all the visitors and athletes visiting the country for the big event.
Mexico in 4th place and the United Kingdom in 5th place remained in their respective positions from last year. Germany was bumped up +1 to 6th place and Brazil was bumped up +3 to 7th place.
Our statisticians saw Peru on the Top 20 Countries list for the first time this year, with a big bump of +5 places.
Overall, the Top 20 Countries make up 79.2% of all daily traffic.
A Time for Reflection
The average time spent per visit was down –29 seconds, making the average engagement time per visit 9 minutes and 40 seconds. We’re looking at you, 18-24 age group. Their average visit was –76 seconds below the average, but who can blame them? Those in the 65+ age group spent +83 seconds more than average, so it all kind of evens itself out.
When our statisticians broke it down by country, Mexico spent the most time per visit to Pornhub, with an average of 11 minutes and 1 second. Next was the Netherlands, who spent an average of 10 minutes and 51 seconds. And in third was the United States, where visitors came and went in 10 minutes and 37 seconds.
Poland was down at the bottom, lasting an average of 8 minutes and 35 seconds per visit. Following Poland was Peru, whose average visit lasted 8 minutes and 39 seconds. After Peru, Brazil averaged 8 minutes and 45 seconds per visit.
Overall, female visitors spent +17 seconds longer per visit compared to male visitors.
The age groups varied, with 25-34 year olds lasting –24 seconds below average and the 35-44 age group lasting –2 seconds below average. Once the 45-54 age group comes in, they spent +25 seconds more than average and the 54-64 year old age group lasted +69 seconds longer. Nice.
Would you look at that, in 2024, traffic in the United States lasted a whole 46 seconds longer than last year! 10 minutes and 37 seconds was the average visit duration in the United States this year, up 46 seconds from 2024. Give yourself a pat on the back!
The state that spent the most amount of time on average was Alaska, lasting 11 minutes and 4 seconds. The next two states were tied, with Connecticut and Wisconsin both averaging 10 minutes and 46 seconds. When our statisticians looked for the states with the quickest visits, they found Louisiana to be shortest, at 9 minutes and 18 seconds. In a close second and third shortest visit, Wyoming averaged 9 minutes and 40 seconds and Vermont lasted 9 minutes and 41 seconds.
As far as duration changes went, Washington saw an increase of +66 seconds on average from last year, Oregon saw a +58 second increase, and Alaska jumped +55 seconds. As for those that went down, Rhode Island spent a whole minute less on average, down –64 seconds. Delaware was down –57 seconds and Mayland was down –60 seconds.
When were people’s favorite times to watch porn this year? Our statisticians found out! As you might expect, when looking at the weekly average, the lowest points were around 5 and 6 a.m. but it remained below average from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the week. By 2 p.m. the traffic starts to come in a bit, perhaps as people are taking their lunch breaks and sneaking a quickie in, before the curve starts to dip again at 5 p.m., when people are heading home from work or preparing their meal for the evening.
At 9 p.m., the numbers go up again, climbing higher every hour until midnight, when traffic reaches its peak. As is well documented, orgasms improve the quality of your sleep, reduce the stress of a long day, and alleviate any pain you may have, making it the perfect thing to do before bed.
Digging a little deeper and breaking it down by day, our statisticians found the time with the lowest amount of traffic on Pornhub was Tuesday morning at 5 a.m. and the time with the highest traffic was 11 p.m. on Monday night. In general, the least popular day was Friday, which comes as no surprise since it’s the start of the weekend and people want to go out and enjoy themselves. However, the most popular day is Monday, when people are settling in for the week and looking to take a load off.
And finally, our statisticians reported that the world came together the most at 10 p.m. on August 27th – the time when the traffic was highest throughout the entire year!
Categorical Analysis
The topmost popular categories don’t often change much year to year. Lesbian, MILF, and Anal are often in the top 5, swapping spots with each other every year. In 2024, MILF soared to the most viewed category of the year, up +4 spots from 5th in 2023. Anal rose +2 spots as well, going from 4th in 2023 to 2nd in 2024. The Japanese category dropped one spot, from 2nd in 2023 to 3rd in 2024.
Sexual Wellness Center contributor, Courtney Warren Brame, who is a is a yoga-informed emotional wellness practitioner and who also runs the nonprofit organization, Something Positive for Positive People, said “MILF being the most viewed category sort of deconstructs this idea that men are attracted to youth and fertility according to the manosphere and red pill content.”
Interestingly, the Lesbian category this year saw its first drop out of 1st place in a couple years. It was the top category in 2023 and 2022. Overall, it’s an extremely popular category and a common fantasy amongst straight men, who make up a large portion of viewers on Pornhub.
This year saw big jumps in interest. The Verified Amateurs category rose +10 spots this year. Public jumped +8 spots, Babe rose +6, Brazilian was up +9 spots, and French rose +12. As mentioned, with the Olympics taking place in Paris this past summer, the French were on many people’s minds, and it shows they wanted to see a little more of them than what was on TV.
Next, our statisticians pulled the data for the world’s most viewed categories. In Canada and Australia, they continued to enjoy women loving women, like last year, where Lesbian was their most viewed category. In the US and many parts of Africa, Ebony was yet again their most viewed category this year.
The popularity of the Anal category moved around a little this year. In Russia and many countries in south and west South America, Anal was their top category. Last year, Anal dominated many parts of Europe and Greenland. This year, Greenland was more into Lesbian and most of Europe was loving the MILF category.
The Japanese category was popular in many parts of Asia this year. North Africa was into the Arab category. And the French were in love with themselves, as were their neighbors in Italy, where Italian was the most viewed category. In Brazil, they loved their own as well, with Brazilian being their most viewed category.
Category Growth
This year, many of the top gaining categories were completely different than last year. Bukkake grew +125%, French (again, the Olympics), grew +104%, Fingering grew +98%, and Public grew +87%. The popularity of Vertical Videos is on the rise, as more content is being uploaded each day that will take advantage of Pornhub’s new vertical scrollable feed called Shorties, which is currently in Beta. Our statisticians also found that 18-24 year olds were the most likely to view Vertical Videos. (More on that in our Demographics section).
The increase in the Muscular Men category by +51% can be partly attributed to the increase in female viewers, who watch this category more than their male counterparts. Cosplay’s increase of +33% could potentially be running parallel to the rising popularity of animated content. And Behind The Scenes +75% increase could have something to do with users who are looking for new ways to connect with their favorite performers. The authenticity of behind-the-scenes footage ties into the Demure Desires trend this year. Another notable point of interest is the MILF category, which is already wildly popular, has grown by a huge +37%.
The categories viewed the longest included Massage (who doesn’t want a massage to keep going?), clocking in at 8 minutes and 22 seconds on average. The Reality category was next, with 7 minutes and 48 seconds on average. Vintage, another rising popular category, wasn’t far behind, with an average time of 7 minutes and 33 seconds.
“8 minutes for Reality to me speaks to people having and experiencing fantasies that COULD happen in real life. I believe online dating is responsible for the interest in this category. People are longing to have physical connection with someone,” said Sexual Wellness Center contributor Courtney Warren Brame. “We want to be swept off our feet. We want to feel safe to explore fantasies, but the comfort level and experience of approaching people and being approached has changed so much to where it is extremely rare to see.”
The categories that were viewed for the shortest amount of time included Vertical, at 4 minutes and 14 seconds. They pop in to get the job done and they’re out, no time for browsing! Next was Virtual Reality, at 4 minutes and 39 seconds. And after that, Cosplay, at 4 minutes and 52 seconds. It’s worth noting that all these categories were popular among the 18-24 age group, who are perhaps yet to build up some stamina.
PornhubGay Insights
Over on PornhubGay, the most searched terms remained similar to last year. Once again, “twink” took the top spot, followed by “anime” and then “pinoy,” which is a term used for a male of Filipino decent. Oddly enough, the term “pinay” landed in 3rd for straight and the term “pinoy” landed in 3rd for gay. The interest in animated content was not an orientation thing – like the top straight terms, “anime” made an appearance in a top category here too. But after that, things started changing. The term “femboy” was up +4, “straight guys first time” was up +1, and “furry” rose +2 spots.
The terms that saw large increases included “animation” at +9, “latino” at +8, “cute femboy” at +19, “black gay” at +7, and “ftm” at +9.
Unlike the terms, the gay categories had a lot more movement this year. The twinks were topping everyone this year, even the straight guys! Twink rose +2 spots to the most viewed category, bumping Straight Guys down to 3rd place. Bareback was up +8 spots to 2nd, Daddy was up +1, and Big Dick was up +2.
While the straight categories saw a +8 rise in interest for the Public category, it dropped –3 spots in the gay categories. Interracial was also down –7 spots, and Solo Male saw a decrease of –5 spots as well.
When our statisticians looked at the most viewed performers on PornhubGay, they found Malik Delgaty at the top of the list year again this year. Tyler Wu jumped up several spots this year, landing himself in 2nd most viewed performer. Hunnypaint, who wasn’t on the list last year, found themselves as the 3rd most viewed performers in 2024.
The next three are popular PornhubGay pornstars, Cade Maddox, Rhyheim Shabazz, and Dante Cole.
Transgender Performers
With the Transgender category and Trans searches becoming more and more popular worldwide, our statisticians dug into the data to see who the most viewed Trans performers of the year were.
In the lead by quite a wide margin was PuppyGirlXO, who has accumulated over 50 million video views on Pornhub. The 2nd most viewed Trans performer was Emma Rose, who has over 134 million videos views. In 3rd this year was Daniela Chanel, who has accumulated over 63 million video views.
Following the top 3 were nbnabunny, Vicats, and Noah Way.

Men vs Women
Each year there is an overlap between categorical interests of the genders. For example, the favorite category of men was Japanese again this year, just like it was in 2023. For women, Japanese was their 2nd favorite category, the same as it was in 2023. In 2024, both men and women had a rising interest in the MILF category. For men, it rose +2 spots to become their 2nd favorite, and for women it rose +4 spots to be their 3rd favorite category. And for the first time ever, Anal is now equally popular with men and women, as it’s the 4th most viewed category for both genders, increasing by +2 for women.
Since 2023, there was not a lot of change for men. Japanese, Ebony, Transgender, Lesbian, Threesome, Hentai, and Big Dick all remained in the same place as last year. Asian saw a boost of +5 spots and French saw an increase of +9, which makes sense with the Olympics being held in France this year.
For women, their interest varied a little more. The same categories as last year shifted a few spots, not changing much. However, Ebony dropped –4 spots, Brazilian jumped up +10, and Bisexual Male rose +3.
When our statisticians viewed which categories were viewed more by women compared to men, the results were more obvious. Scissoring was watched more by women by +143%. Women also watched Pussy Licking more by +103%, Solo male by +88%, Fingering by +71%, Muscular Men by +70%, and Popular With Women by +68%. Women also showed a +60% interest in Bisexual Male and were +45% more likely to view the Romantic category.
When our statisticians looked to see who the most searched for pornstars by women were, they found Lexi Lore, Esperanza Gomez, and Lana Rhoades at the top. The list includes many that are popular with straight men as well.
Looking to see who women searched for more compared to men, our statisticians found all the pornstars to be gay or bi men. Dom King was viewed +468% more by women than men, Alex Mecum was searched +373% more, and Diego Sans was viewed +316% more.
Proportion of Female Visitors
Female visitors topped the list again this year in the Philippines, with 59% of their traffic being women, and a growth of +1% since 2023. Argentina’s visitors were 51% female, taking the 2nd spot from Colombia this year. They had a growth of +4% from 2023. In Colombia, women made up 49% of all visitors, up +1% from 2023.
The scale was tipped in the other direction through Europe, Australia, and North America. In Germany, female visitors accounted for 26% of traffic, in the United Kingdom, they made up 27% of traffic, up +2% from 2023. The Netherlands remained at 28% women and in Italy women accounted for 29% of traffic, up +3% from 2023. In the United States and Canada, women made up 29% of visitors, while men made up 71%.
Worldwide, women accounted for 38% of all visitors to Pornhub. The proportional growth in 2024 was +7%, quite a significant jump, telling our statisticians there may be some changing perceptions around women viewing porn. In the 2015 Year in Review, our statisticians found 24% of all visitors were women. Since then, it has climbed +14 percentage points, indicating a 58% growth in women’s share of traffic over the past decade.
Age Demographics
When it came to visitor demographics, the average age in 2024 was 38 years old, climbing +1 year. For the last few years, the average age has remained at 37. When our statisticians broke the average age groups down further, they found similar trends to years past.
The 18-24 age group made up the biggest portion of traffic, with 27% of all traffic falling into that category. Following closely behind was the 25-34 age group, which accounted for 24% of all traffic. Together, the 18 to 35 group makes up over half of Pornhub’s visitors, even after giving up -2 percentage points in 2024 to the over 35 crowd.
In general, the older the age groups get, the fewer viewers there are. The 35-44 age group accounted for 17% of all traffic, the 45-54 age group accounted for 14% of all traffic, the 55-64 age group accounted for 11% of all traffic, and finally, the 65+ age group accounted for only 7% of all traffic.
Besides the 18-24 age group and the 65+ age group, there were fluctuations in all the others. The 25-34 age group saw the only decrease in viewers, of –2%. The rest saw increases. The 35-44 age group increased +2%, the 45-54 age group increased +1%, and the 55-64 age group increased +3%.
When our statisticians broke it down by proportions in the top 20 countries, they found the 18-24 age group was the highest in Egypt, accounting for 50% of all viewers. Compare that to Spain and Argentina where they are less than 15%.
In Canada and Australia, visitors aged 25 to 34 make up the largest portion of their traffic at 26%, while Spain again has the lowest at only 11% of visitors.
In Poland, Ukraine and Germany nearly a quarter of visitors are aged 35-44, but that group only makes up 13% in Chile and Peru.
Spain has by far the largest portion of older visitors, with those over 45 making up 65% of all traffic. Nearly half of the traffic from Argentina and Chile are also over 45, compared to only 5% of visitors from Egypt. Argentina has the largest portion of 65+ visitors, making up 22% of their overall traffic.
The 55-64 age group was highest again in Spain at 22% and Chile at 19%. The lowest again occurred in the Philippines and Egypt.
For the 65+ age group, the highest number of viewers came from Argentina at 22% and Spain at 18%.
Generational Tastes
So, what categories were the generations the most interested in? Just like last year, they differed quite a bit from one group to the next. Our statisticians investigated the percentage difference in popularity compared to all the other age groups and found Gen Z (the 18-24 age group) were +392% more likely to view Vertical Videos. They were also +193% more likely to view Hentai, no doubt contributing to the popularity of the category, especially considering Gen Z accounts for a large portion of viewers. This number increased by 99 percentage points from last year, when Gen Z was +94% more likely to watch Hentai. And as many people like doing, they also viewed Gaming +151% more than the other groups.
Gen Z’s interests have remained somewhat similar over the years. In 2023, their most proportionally viewed categories also included Hentai, Cosplay, Gaming, Virtual Reality, and Cartoon. In 2022, it also included Vertical Video, Cosplay, Cartoon, and Virtual Reality.
It is a fascinating point our statisticians discovered that Gen Z’s interests were higher around non-porn style porn than actual porn. For example, Music, SFW (safe for work), and Gaming all appear in their top relative categories. It seems they are looking to get more from their experience on Pornhub than watching purely sex videos. It’s almost like Gen Z is watching Pornhub for the podcasts, like Boomers read Playboy for the articles.
Gen Y were proportionally higher to view FMM by +69%. This number is up +44% from last year, when they were +25% more likely to view the category. They also enjoyed Tattooed Women more, at +45%. Parody is a new one on this list of categories for Gen Y, which they were +39% more likely to view.
Since last year, their interests have changed significantly, with only Tattooed Women remaining among the group’s top relative categories. They switched out FFM in 2023 for FMM in 2024.
The Gen X age group (35-54) once again differed substantially from the other age groups. Gen X was +46% more likely to watch the Compilation category, +40% more likely to watch Role play, and +28% more likely to watch Feet. Transgender was again one of Gen X’s top relative categories by +18%, and Fisting by +22% compared to other ages.
The Boomers were a little more predictable in their tastes. The categories Handjob, BBW, and Bisexual Male all appeared again on their proportional interests this year. However, last year the top spot was the Smoking category and this year it went to Strap On, which was +36% more likely to be viewed. They were also more interested in group sex, with Gangbangs and Double Penetration toping their proportional category interests.
Devices & Technology
With the rapidly changing environment of devices and technology, people are watching Pornhub in a variety of different ways. In 2024, smartphones made up 90.5% of worldwide traffic, a 1% decrease from the previous year. Desktop and laptop computers, while making up only 7.9% of traffic, did increase their share by +11%, as did tablets by +8% compared to 2023.
Breaking down the 3 devices to see what the top 20 countries prefer, it’s no surprise that phones dominate the data. The countries with the most phone traffic include Philippines in the lead, with a whopping 97% of all traffic coming from their phones. Mexico is next, with 96% of all traffic coming from their phones. And then Egypt and Colombia with 95%. Egypt has the highest number of Gen Z viewers, who grew up using smartphones, so it’s no surprise.
Desktop usage was highest in Australia, at 12% of all traffic from the country attributed to desktop. They were followed by Peru, Poland, and Canada, at 11% of all traffic. France and the United Kingdom both had 10% of visitors arriving by desktop.
Breaking this data down further by operating system, things start to get really interesting. Traffic from Apple devices has plummeted by –27% since 2023. Devices based on Apple’s iOS, including iPhones and iPads, make up 34.7% of mobile traffic, whereas Android makes up 65.2% this year, up 24% since last year.
In our 2022 Year in Review Insights, Apple and Android were neck in neck, with Apple accounting for 48.3% of all phone traffic and Android accounting for 51.5% of phone traffic. Since then, Android has tipped the scales in its favor.
It is worth noting that Android does have the market share among smartphone users, with nearly 70% of people currently using Android over iPhone, according to this article. Android devices dominate in a lot of countries, especially Asian countries, where our growth in those regions in the last few years has boosted Android’s user base.
The traffic from desktops revealed a similar tip of the scales. This year, Windows makes up 71.7% of all desktop traffic, an increase of +14% since 2023. Apple traffic makes up 20.3% of desktop users, down in share –26% since 2023. Linux saw a boost, +41% since 2023, accounting for 5.1% of desktop traffic. And Chrome OS was down –12%, accounting for 0.4% of desktop traffic.
Similar trends follow when our statisticians broke the traffic down by web browser. Chrome accounted for 64.7% of mobile browser traffic, an increase in share of +23%. Safari made up 26.2%, down –35% from last year. The other 9.1% of mobile browser traffic came from a mix of Samsung, which accounted for 4.2%, up +37% from last year, Android at 2.1%, down –5% from 2023, and then Opera at 1.2%, Firefox at 0.7%, and YaBrowser at 0.5%.
The results were quite similar on desktop browsers. Chrome accounted for the majority, with 56% of traffic coming from there, up +6% from 2023. Safari accounted for 14%, down –40% from last year. Edge was up +12% this year to account for 13% of traffic. Firefox was up +57% since last year, now accounting for 8% of desktop traffic. Opera made up 7% and Samsung made up 1%.
As more and more people upgrade to newer gaming consoles, the traffic from older ones begin to drop. Last year PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 had nearly equal traffic. This year, PlayStation 5 accounted for 60% of all game console traffic, growing its share by +49% since 2023. PlayStation 4 accounted for 35% of console traffic, down –16% from 2023.
Xbox dropped significantly, down –70% from 2023 to make up only 4.9% of gaming console traffic. For context, last year Xbox traffic made up 16.7% of gaming console traffic.
Movie Parodies & Characters
Pop culture, especially movies and video games, have a cultural impact outside the mainstream. It is human nature to fantasize about what we see, whether that is a beautiful person we encounter on the street or a character in a video game that stirs the carnal desire inside us. This becomes most evident in movie parodies and video game characters our statisticians see trending on Pornhub.
This year, Harley Quinn took the top spot from Star Wars, no doubt because of the new Joker movie. In 2023, the two were neck in neck, but his year Harley Quinn took the lead by a wide margin. Game of Thrones, Avatar, Harry Potter, and Wonder Woman all remained in their respective spots from 2023.
Overall, lots of men in tights dominating the list, with many of the repeat characters we see year after year. For example, Deadpool and Wolverine, even though they both shared the spotlight and billboards of 2024, we think Deadpool would be happy to know he came out on top of Wolverine, at least among Pornhub’s loyal superhero parody viewers. That said, Star Trek appeared for the very first time this year on the list.
Video Games & Characters
The popularity of Fortnite continues again this year, as it did in 2023, 2022, and 2021. Once again it was the most searched for video game, but this year Genshin Impact was hot on its heels, jumping +4 spots from 2023 to make it the 2nd most searched video game. Pokémon jumped +1 spot this year, placing it in 3rd. Overwatch and Minecraft were both down –2 spots this year. With the release of the Fallout TV show adaptation, our statisticians saw a surge of interest in the video game, jumping it +14 spots this year. Final Fantasy also saw a big jump, no doubt due to the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, launching it +10 spots this year.
For video game characters, Chun Li, whose origins are in Street Fighter but is also a playable skin in Fortnite, was again the most searched video game character of 2024, same as 2023. Lara Croft, who has been a popular video game character for a long time, landed in 2nd place this year, up from 4th place last year. And Tifa from Final Fantasy, who was in 2nd place in 2023, dropped down –1 to land in 3rd this year.
Traffic Changes on Holidays
Regional holidays and events impact the traffic to Pornhub in different ways. Depending on the event and the country, the traffic can change quite drastically. Take for example Thanksgiving Day in the United States, where traffic dropped –33.5%. When everyone is travelling, eating with their families, or falling asleep after filling their bellies full of turkey, it’s no surprise that number is so high.
A similar drop was found in Italy on Assumption of Mary, with –32.4% of traffic coming to Pornhub. The same happened in Poland on Easter Sunday, another family-centric (and religious event), where traffic fell –31.6% that day.
On other regional holidays, the traffic seemed significantly less impacted. Take for example Moulid Al-Nabi in Egypt, where traffic only fell –8.3%. During Malanka in Ukraine, traffic only dropped –8.8%. And on August 26 for the UK’s Summer Holiday, traffic only fell –9.3%.
On the biggest party night of the year, traffic is always down between 6 p.m. and midnight. As 2024 began, the New Years Eve party was going strong in Italy, with the largest drop in traffic between all the top 20 countries. In Italy, traffic was down –58%, beating the Netherlands in 2023, when they had the largest drop in traffic on New Years with a drop of –61%. In 2023, Italy’s traffic was down –44%. The party in Mexico was going strong too, with a drop of –55%, and same applied in Colombia, where traffic was down –54%.
The countries that seemed the least effected by the celebrations were Egypt, where traffic fell –12%, Japan where traffic fell –18%, and the United States, where it was only down –35%.
Events that Changed Traffic in 2024
Big cultural events around the world always effect traffic to Pornhub. During these times, the porn viewing habits of people worldwide are altered to accommodate the events. This year, events like the 2024 Presidential Election, the 2024 Apple Event, Eurovision 2024, a rare solar eclipse, the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Super Bowl 58, and many more drastically changed people porn consumption habits.

The top searches in the US were similar to the top searches worldwide. The term “hentai” was up +2, and “milf” was down –1. The US showed a special interest in “latina” this year, which rose +2 spots to make it the 2nd most searched term. The term “asian” rose +2 spots to land 4th and “ebony” stayed in the same place as 2023 – 5th. The term “lesbian” took a bit of a plunge in 2024, down –5 spots from last year but anime jumped up +4 places, contributing to the Animation Arousal trend.
Violet Myers was the top pornstar of the year in the US. Alex Adams came 2nd, and Lana Rhoades was in 3rd.
For trending searches, “mature 50 plus” was popping off, up +385% this year. Tying into the Coworker Crushes theme of this year, “business trip” was up +331%. The US was also +251% more interested in “thick and curvy” this year.
The categories that were viewed most often included Ebony in 1st place, Lesbian in 2nd, and MILF in 3rd.
As far as relative categories went, Ebony was viewed +68% more compared to the rest of the world. Interracial was viewed +64% more, and Latina was +51% more.
France
In France, the most searched term was “francaise” by a wide margin, showing they were interested in their own kind, both language and people. The next most searched term was “hentai” which contributes to the trend of the year. In 3rd was “milf” and then “amateur francais” in 4th. These 4 terms were in the exact order as they were last year, telling our statisticians the French found what they liked and are sticking with it.
It appears the term “latina” got a boost of +5 spots and “anime” was up a massive +22 spots. On the other hand, the term “lesbienne” dropped –7 spots.
The top pornstar of the year was Littleangel84. Following her were Angela White and Lana Rhoades.
Trending searches in France included “orgasme francaise” which was up +296%. The term “femme mature” was up +232%. It seems the French liked women in glasses this year, as “femme a lunette” was up +209%.
To continue with the French wanting to see their neighbors doing the deed, their top category of the year was French. Their 2nd top category was Anal and 3rd was Mature.
To no surprise, their top relative category was also French, which they were +1090% more likely to watch than elsewhere in the world. Arab was also a popular category. They were +62% more likely to view it, which also makes sense since there is a large population of Arabs in France.
Philippines
Similar to France, the people of the Philippines were also interested in their own. The most searched term by a landslide was “pinay” followed by “pinoy.” The next couple were “japanese” and “hentai,” all 4 of which stayed in their respective places since 2023. Notable jumps in search terms included “pinay dirty talk” +18 spots and “hentai anime” +12 spots.
Lexi Lore was the top pornstar in the country. In 2nd was Johnny Sins and 3rd was Sharinami, a popular Filipina Model.
Their trending searches had quite a contrast. “beautiful sex” was up +668% and then “extreme squirting” was up +623%. The term “hot asian big tits” was up +520%.
The top categories in the Philippines included Hentai in 1st, Japanese in 2nd, and Reality in 3rd.
For relative categories, Reality was viewed +642% more in the Philippines than elsewhere in the world. Hentai was viewed +465%, and Korean was viewed +278%.
Mexico
Over in Mexico, their top 2 searches were the same as 2023. “hentai” came first, followed by “lesbianas.” The term “culonas” (meaning big ass) was up +1 to take the 3rd most searched term this year. The term “mexicana” was up +1 and “milf” dropped –2. “animation” saw a huge surge in searches this year, bumping the term up +12 spots.
The top pornstar in Mexico was Jessica Sodi, a popular Mexican pornstar. In 2nd was Giselle Montes, another popular Mexican pornstar, and then Violet Myers in 3rd.
For trending searches, “porno anime” was up +352%, once again contributing to the Animated Arousal trend. “milf culona” (big ass milf) was searched +248% more, and “chupando pene” (sucking penis) was searched +215% more.
Top categories in Mexico included Anal in 1st, Lesbian in 2nd, and Threesome in 3rd. In 2023, the top 3 categories were the same, but in a different order.

The most searched terms in the UK were also similar to last year. In first again was “milf” followed by “lesbian.” The third most searched term was “british” this year, which rose +2 spots, showing the Brits are getting a little more interested in themselves too, knocking “indian” down to 4th by quite a wide margin. The term “anal” got a boost of +6 spots, “joi” got a boost of +6, and “latina” got a boost of +7.
The top pornstar in the country was Elle Brooke, a popular British pornstar. Next was Lily Phillips, another popular up and coming Brit. In 3rd was worldwide star, Lana Rhoades.
Trending searches in the country included “british blonde” up +476%, “british couple” up +410%, and “english milf” up +356%.
Top categories in the country changed up a bit from last year. In 2024, MILF was the top category, bumping Lesbian down to 2nd. Mature was the 3rd most popular category, bumping Anal down to 4th.
As usual, the British category was viewed +733% more often in the UK than other countries. Indian was viewed +63% more, and MILF was +47% more often viewed.
Germany
The term “deutsch” got a boost this year in Germany, bumping it +2 to the most searched term in the country and dropping “milf” down to 3rd. The term “german” remained in 2nd, following closely behind “deutsch.” Not much change otherwise in the most searched terms, but our statisticians did find “big tits” got a boost of +6 spots.
The top pornstars in Germany were worldwide stars. Angela White was the most popular, followed by Alex Adams, and then Lana Rhoades.
Germany was into being dominated by women this year, as “dominate woman” was searched +465% more. The term “gym leggings” got some love too, up +356%. And “nude beach” was up +343%.
Top categories are what our statisticians expected, following the trend of being interested in our own, along with other widewide popular categories. Anal was the top category of the year, followed by German, both of which remained the top 2 again this year. MILF was 3rd, jumping up +1 spot and bumping Lesbian down to 5th after Mature crept into the list. For relative categories in the country, German was viewed +1052% more in Germany than elsewhere. Gaming was viewed +140% more and Fetish was viewed +99% more. Pissing and Feet also made the list, potentially tying into fetish to some degree.
Brazil
Brazil continued to search for “hentai” more than anything else this year, holding the top spot again by a landslide. The next most searched was “brasileira” and then “punheta guiada” (joi), which rose +3 spots this year. The term “boquete” (blowjob) had a big increase, jumping +14 spots, and “amador” (amateur), also jumped +9 spots. Otherwise, there wasn’t much movement from 2023.

The trending searches in the country were interesting. The term “brasileira casada” (brazilian married) was searched +745% more, contributing to the Pornhub Wives trend of the year. Over in Italy their top 5 most searched terms remained the same as 2023. They like what they like! The term “italiano” was searched the most, by a wide margin. Next was “milf” back-to-back with “amatoriale italiano” (italian amateur). The terms “hentai” and “milf” were also in the top 5. The term “milf italiana” got a surge of +10 spots this year.
The top 3 pornstars Italy liked were all Italian. Martina Smeraldi was 1st, Sara Diamante was 2nd , and 3rd was Valentina Nappi.
For trending searches, Italy liked “tette e culo enormi” (huge tits and ass) +276% more this year, “sesso in dorcia” (shower sex) +250% more, and “tette perfette” (perfect tits) +242% more.
Continuing what we’ve seen so far, Italy loved to see their own. Italian was the top viewed category, pushing it to the top spot after not appearing on the list in 2023. Italian was followed by Mature and then Anal, both of which did appear in the top 5 categories of the year in Italy in 2023.
This surge also contributed to the Italian category being viewed +1530% more this year than other countries. Solo Male was also up +85% and Mature was viewed +67% more in Italy.
Japan
In Japan, the top 3 searches of the year remained the same as 2023. “japanese” was at the top, followed by “uncensored” and then “amateur.” The term “mature woman” got a boost of +4 spots this year, putting it in 4th, otherwise there wasn’t a lot of change for their most searched terms.
The top pornstars in the country were Eva Elfie, Melody Marks, and Elle Lee.
For trending searches “huge tits and ass” was up +754%, “japanese mature” was up +667%, and “uncensored milf” was up +624%.
Top 3 categories in the country were Japanese, Hentai, and MILF, all of which also appeared in the top categories of Japan in 2023.
As far as relative categories went, Japanese was viewed +755% more in the country than elsewhere, Hentai was viewed +159% more, and Uncensored Cartoon was viewed +117% more.
Canada
The top 2 Canadian search terms remained the same as 2023, with “milf” being the top and “hentai” following in 2nd. The term “asian” got a boost of +1 this year, dropping “lesbian” down –1 to 4th. The interest in “threesome” dropped –4 and “joi” got a big jump of +12.
The top pornstars in the country were Angela White, Alex Adams, and then Lana Rhoades.
For trending searches, Canada was similar to Germany this year, as they were searching “dominant woman” +886% more. They also liked “big natural chubby” +746% more and “really old milf” +657% more.
Lesbian was their top category this year, same as 2023. MILF jumped to the 2nd spot, and Anal to the 3rd, bumping Threesome down to 4th. The Mature category also made the list this year, dropping Transgender out of the top 5.
For relative categories, Small Tits was viewed +82% more in the country. They also enjoyed Virtual Reality +74% more and Indian +66% more. The Red Head category also got some love in Canada, where it was viewed +48% more than other countries.
Spain
In Spain, “milf” took over the top searched term, jumping +2 spots and “hentai” remained in 2nd, which dropped “espanol” down –2 spots to 3rd. The term “maduras” (mature) jumped + 7 spots to the 5th most searched term, and “pov” also had a surge, rising +8 spots to make the list this year.
The top pornstars in Spain included Antonio Mallorca, a popular Spanish pornstar, Abella Danger, and Mariana Martix, a popular Colombian pornstar.
Trending searches in Spain included “exhibitionist” at +347%, “sexo amateur” at +308%, and “parejas swinger” (swinging couple) at +215%, which could tie into the Pornhub Wives trend of this year.

Seeing the trend of the Animated Arousal, the term “animation” got a huge surge of +14 spots, putting it on the list this year.

The term “milf” was once again the most searched term in the country this year. “big ass” rose +1 spot to 2nd most searched and “hentai” rose +1 spot as well, both of which knocked “lesbian” down to 4th.
Top pornstars in the country were top worldwide pornstars, including Angela White in 1st, Johnny Sins in 2nd, and Lana Rhoades in 3rd.
For trending searches, they enjoyed “passionate missionary” +720% more this year, “dutch amateur homemade” +457% more, and “dutch anal” at +356%. They also enjoyed searching for “first date” +316% more.
The Netherland’s top categories include MILF in 1st, up from 3rd last year. Anal was 2nd, down from 1st last year. And Mature made 3rd place, dropping Transgender out of the top 5.

Argentina
To our friends all the way south in South America, Argentina’s top search term was “argentina” by an absolute landslide, same as last year. “hentai” came in 2nd, keeping its same spot as last year too. “lesbianas” rose +1 spot to 3rd, dropping “milf” down to 4th. “argentina casero” (homemade) kept 5th place, contibuting to the Pornhub Wives trend of the year. The term “anal” saw a rise of +8 spots, “anime” rose +4, and “porno gay” jumped +7 spots to make the list this year.
The top pornstars in the country were Abella Danger, Jordi El Nino Polla, and Sara Blonde, a popular Colombian pornstar.
